Membership Committee



Charges:

This Committee will assist the Treasurer with the financial matters associated with the Association's conferences and stimulate the interest of new, present and prospective members. The Association is growing by leaps and bounds and individuals with creative ideas and energy are needed to help move this organization to the next level. The goal of this Committee is to have at least one representative from each state represented in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

This Committee meets each year in January, March, June (mid-year conference), August and October (annual conference). Except for meetings held during the mid-year and annual conferences, all meetings are conducted via telephone conference call. All meetings are driven by an agenda and followed up with minutes to ensure that participants are prepared for the telephone conference call so meetings can be concluded in approximately one hour.

Distributing Committee responsibilities evenly amongst its members is crucial to ensure member participation is not overbearing but fulfilling. With that said, the following three subcommittees have been established to achieve the Committee's goals:

  • General Subcommittee - responsible for a) naming and updating the annual demographic survey for distribution to the full Membership Committee for comments/suggestions, vote and submission to the MAACM Board for approval; b) development of MAACM Benefits Brochure for distribution to the full Membership Committee for comments/suggestions, vote and submission to the MAACM Board for approval; and c) finalization of the new proposed Family Scholarship for distribution to the full Membership Committee for comments/suggestions, vote and submission to the MAACM Board for approval.
  • Recruitment Subcommittee - responsible for a) adding depth and diversity to this Association by recruiting non-members, reaching prospective members and retaining existing members; b) recruiting volunteers for registration desk at mid-year and annual conferences; and c) developing new member orientation package for distribution to the full Membership Committee for comments/suggestions, vote and submission to the MAACM Board for approval.
  • Registration Desk Subcommittee - responsible for a) identifying and preparing written guidelines for registration desk responsibilities (distribution of conference materials; check in members; sell MAACM memorabilia; etc.) for presentation to the full Membership Committee for comments/suggestions to ensure consistent coverage is provided to MAACM's members; b) establishing schedules of volunteers and/or scholarship recipients to cover the registration desk during mid-year and annual conferences; and c) preparing and maintaining attendance lists for mid-year and annual conferences, and oversee the daily activities of the registration desk.
